![]() On many ships, the lowest decks are reserved for crew members only. But not all crew have these privileges, so cruise lines dedicate certain parts of the ship just for crew.ĭepending on the ship's size and age, how much space is reserved for crew members will vary. Some of the newer ships have upgraded facilities. In some cases, crew areas are a lot like guest areas because some crew have guest privileges. How much different are crew areas from guest areas, and what do these facilities look like? I'm thinking, The next Enron? Hmmm.Crew members live on cruise ships while they are working onboard, and they have an entire area of the ship just for them. Ultimately though, the whole 'pirate' business may collapse because of the greed factor. It would seem to me that you would be taking a lot more from the "company' than you may deserve AND you would forever have a crew that would be difficult to work with and many in lower ranks that might want to 'take you out' at first opportunity so your victory may be short-lived) (I may not get the most $$ I could, but I would certainly receive much more than the rest if I were a deserving Captain-otherwise I would probably already be dead)Īlthough this solution may net you significantly more remuneration than myself- I would question your loyalties. Then we would vote, because I would already know the majority were in agreement and the decision was in my favor before the vote. I would sit down with the crew and put the problem on the table and try to negotiate the payout in a hierarchical structure with a procession of discussions where we all or mostly agreed on the division of the booty. I know that will make everyone happy, so I live AND the we can work together well to get a whole lot more bounties in the future. In the end, everyone is happy and I got something for actually doing little. I would get whatever is left, because I did nothing in the first place to get the gold, except lead. Then I'd contemplate over the answers and would announce that the crew gets more than they expected, the first mates get a bit more than they expected, all of the "extra pay" coming from what I had earned. I would also ask at least twice, if they were all in agreement. Again, I'd listen for anyone who dances out of sync with the rest and get a better alignment. How would they spread the bounty among both myself, themselves and the crew. Then I'd speak to the 1st mates and ask them the same question. Once there is consensus, I'd ask at least twice, if they were all in agreement. I'd listen closely, if anyone seems to think out of sync with the rest and discuss their point of view. Since my ships organizational structure is hierarchical, me being at the top, the first mates a level below me and the crew below them, I'd speak with the crew first and discuss what they think their fair share would be, the first mates' fair share and my fair share. ![]() Note that the original version of this question I saw had a hint: "One pirate ends up with 98 percent of the gold." Since it would be useful to have a second set of hands running my ship, I tell him he can either walk the plank, or remain on my crew for 2 gold doubloons. He complies because he does not want to die. ![]() I warn the other pirate that I will kill him one-on-one if he does not give me back all of his gold. Now there are only two people remaining, myself and one other pirate. We kill the third pirate and we take his gold. The third pirate tries to negotiate with the second pirate, but since I have more gold than the third pirate, the second pirate fights on my side. I then offer my 34 gold doubloons to one of the remaining two pirates, for his assistance in killing the third pirate. The final two pirates are (understandably) upset, but they are outnumbered and the three of us kill them. Therefore of the 100 gold doubloons, I give 33 to two of the other pirates, and 0 to the final two pirates. I'm the Captain of the pirate ship because anyone who would dare face me one-on-one would be killed.
